Update on our Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak

June 26, 2020

At Central Park Sports, we have always considered it our duty to be here for your children when they need to play. Of course, their health and well being is our #1 priority. That hasn’t changed from the day we opened and it’s no different now.

We are all aware of the dangers of COVID-19 and the precautions we are being asked to take for our own health and that of everyone around us. We do believe that we have a shared responsibility to do what we can to mitigate the spread of this virus. We also believe that children want and need to play and we plan to facilitate that to the extent we are able.

As of Monday, June 29, 2020, we are OPEN!

· We are following the Reopening New York guidelines for operating during the pandemic.

· We are forming groups (cohorts) of 4-8 kids at a time. We prefer for them to be related or from a trusted friend group. Siblings can be split into 2 different cohorts if the age gap is too great. These cohorts will stay together for the week or even longer.

· If you do not come to us with a cohort, we can create one from kids in the same age range and, hopefully, neighborhood.

· Cohorts of 2-3 may be possible but the price will likely be higher.

· The cohorts will meet coaches at different areas around the Park. We will try to be consistent with the areas, but drop off may vary a bit throughout the week.

· We may have options in other parks/play areas (Riverside Park, certain playgrounds/courts) that are convenient to your cohort.

In addition to our usual sanitary routines, we are planning to enact the following: masks will be worn by all CPSports personnel. Children and anyone accompanying them into the Park will be asked to wear masks to drop-off and pick-up. Children may be allowed to remove their masks for certain activities where distancing can be guaranteed and where equipment will not be shared (for instance, children spread out and dribbling a soccer ball in their own space). Mandatory/supervised hand washing with soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitizer (Purell or equivalent): before and after all water, snack and bathroom breaks as well as before and after handling any shared equipment. We will not be playing “tag” or other similar games where the primary object is to touch other participants. We are implementing policies to limit the sharing of equipment and we will be carrying a hospital grade disinfectant (chlorine dioxide) to disinfect any shared equipment prior to and after each use. We will split into groups of no more than 10, including coaches, and we will make sure everyone maintains a safe physical distance between all activities. Activities will be designed to promote distancing during play.

Finally, once we begin activity, we promise to keep you informed of any developments involving any member of the Central Park Sports family and the COVID-19 virus, and we ask that you will do the same. If any coach, child, or parent contracts or learns that they have come in contact with someone who has or is suspected to have contracted COVID-19 we will immediately alert everyone who has participated in or who is scheduled to participate in any of our programs.

We thank you for continuing to support Central Park Sports and we look forward to seeing you in the Park!
